Moses by Michelangelo

Moses is one of Michelangelo's greatest pieces. First built for the Julius Tomb, it now rests in church of San Pietro. The way that the figure is sculpted, Moses seems to be communicating with God, and also displays emotions such as seriousness, sadness, and an awe-struck face in one expression. It was started in 1513.

Michelangelo was, among other things, a famous painter, artist, sculptor, and poet from the Renaissance. A Florentine, Michelangelo was  employed by the Pope's for his artistic talent and skill. He is often considered the last great man of Italy's golden age of Art.
