The Assembly of Gods around Jupiter's Throne by Giulio Romano

The Assembly of Gods around Jupiter's Throne is a painting made by Romano that depicts the Greek/Roman gods in assembly around the throne of Jupiter, their king. It shows the power that a monarch could have over anyone, even over gods. The painting was started in 1532.

Romano was a student of Raphael and considered his primary heir. He finished a great deal of Raphael's unfinished works after Raphael's death. He moved to Mantua afterwards and was the principal artist for the duchy until his death.
